Walter Lindrum,
mahogany hardwood and headed nail or metal brad fastener official bagatelle gameboard,
comes with seven silver ball bearings but without the original lathe-turned, tapered shooting cue or stick, used to push the balls up the right sleeve and into play in the prize field facia of the gameboard. It's remarkably without damage and now being
91 years old,
it's original lacquered surfaces are now slightly crazed and crackled, as would be expected from a varnished wood surface,
nearly 100 years old.
On the back side of the mahogany gameboard can be found two jig-cut wooden slat cleats, which are screwed into the back of the wood board and allow the user(s) to position them as desired to give the top of the board some elevation, making the balls work their way down the facia of the board due to gravity. Completely manual, it looks to have been previously lightly used but never abused. A great
bagatelle vintage gameboard.
With its original red and silver lithographed enamel metal label still affixed to the lower margin of the board's face and playing field. Not a single nail is missing and without a single alteration or repair (old or new.) Very fine.
CONDITION:
Very Good to Excellent overall antique condition.
The two tabs with gold paint have some minor scuffing and faded numbers
(the 100 prize denomination decal is still quite visible, compared to the other one with some surface damage)
on the lower right bottom. It comes with seven silver ball-bearings and no original ball shooting wooden cue or lathe-turned, tapered shooting rod.
