This lovely and extraordinary piece of Carlton Ware dates from the company's Art Deco days of the early 1900's.
The vase stands 7 3/8" tall, 3 3/8" across the top, and 2 7/8" across the brass base.
The vase is in excellent condition.
There are no scrapes, scratches or repairs of any kind.

This mark was used from 1928 - 1987.
These Art Deco Forest Tree vases date from the earliest days of the mark's use.
You can also see the decorator's mark (the brown mark with a "U" and a dot under "Carlton Ware"), and the gilt decorator's mark (the gold "J").
There is also the mold number "456" impressed in the bottom.
The "3281" represents the pattern number.

"Carlton Ware" came into being back in 1894 when 3 potters formed a company in Stoke-On-Trent, Staffordshire, England.
Carlton Ware focused on the gift market, making vases and ornately painted plates.
The company went through various ownerships over the years until finally cooling their kilns and shuttering their doors in 1992.
This vase exhibits their mastery of several skills.
This unique ovoid shape vase was designed on Oriental-inspired chinoiserie wares and is part of the highly collectable "Forest Tree" line of wares.
There is a very very fine crackle glaze, similar to Japanese Satsuma ware, with beautiful hand painted gilt over a tan and white mottled surface.
The special matt glaze gives the surface of the vase a luxurious silky appearance as opposed to a gloss finish.
On each side you can see a swallow in flight through the forest.
The swallow is universally seen as a symbol of love, loyalty, and peace.
Swallows mate for life, and will never choose a second partner.
The vase shows with a soft beauty - you see the beautiful swallow in flight under the forest canopy and above the forest floor - with gorgeous gilt decoration over the tan and white mottled surface.
