This auction is for a used
ANTIQUE MATCHING HORSEHAIR BOSAL HEADSTALL BROWBAND REINS & MECATE
There are no marking to indicate the maker of this mecate. (It could be Montana prison made. But I can not answer that and there is no provenance available on the set)
This is a used mecate with signs of use.  I do not see any breaks or weak spots in the braiding.
They used a cord in the center of the reins or lead rope.
It is adjustable to fit the horse head.
Only thing is it has twisted in storage or how it was stored.
This used on young horses or colts.
The length of the rein or lead rope 15 ft. and 1/2 in. diameter.
Take a good look at the picture to see the condition.
This is a local estate sale find.
I have not attempted to clean, or alter it in any way.
Scuffs and scratches present.
