This is a GREAT hand made bit by Texas bit maker Jim Trammell in the Buster Welch cutter style. These popular bits are getting harder and harder to find, and horsemen don't like to let them go once they have ridden their horse in one. This bit is identified as an ORIGINAL VINTAGE Trammell bit by the HAND stamped makers mark "Trammell" on the inside left cheek:The ORIGINAL HAND STAMPED Joe Trammell bits "TRAMMELL" maker's marks were never struck clean. Newer production bits have deep machine made stamps. Hand stamping typically left partial or uneven letter depths as shown in the close up photos of maker's mark in this bit.This bit features a swept back aluminum cheek with a 1 inch diameter engraved floral concho with berry edge. This bit is used and looks to have been repaired.
