    Description
This is a beautiful pair of traditionally styled Sterling Silver braided 12 plait chocolate dark oil supple bridle leather romal reins in the Vaquero "California" style popular at West Coast shows in the 1970's.  These reins feature 16 beautifully engraved Sterling Silver ferrules.  The ferrules are in well maintained pre owned, and there are a few broken strings on the reins that should not affect usability.  Please look at the close up photos to see.  The romal connector also has a couple of broken strings, but typically there isn't much strain put on that part of the reins, and replacements are available on the internet.  These reins were purchased from the original owner who used them in the 1980's.  The reins are
a great length and weight with a popper end for added motivation for your horse.
The reins measure 8 feet 6 inches long from the bit to the popper.  The reins are 51 inches in length by a almost 1/2 inch in diameter with a 51 inch long romal.
Made from select bridle leather, these romal reins are hand braided in the "California pattern" with each engraved ferrule separated by two rings and a large long knot in an alternating pattern. The comfortable weight, and the uniquely weaved buttons and patterns, provide detailed accents for a polished finish.  Historically associated
with the vaquero tradition of Western riding, romal reins are most commonly used in modern Western pleasure and equitation classes as well as reining and other working cowhorse events.
